Ginny Dacquisto, RD, CD, CEDS
I am the registered dietitian of the Peace of Mind Wellness group. If you’re not sure what a registered dietitian does I hear that fairy often. A registered dietitian nutritionist works with people to address whatever nutrition related concerns they have. Sometimes it is related to food allergies or heart health and some dietitians specialize in diabetes education. I am trained in those areas and they often cross over into what I am working on with clients. My main focus though is helping people develop a positive relationship with food and their bodies.
As a trained eating disorder specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) I am qualified to guide people on what meal plan is right for them without causing someone’s relationship with food to become disordered. If there is an eating disorder present this is where my training and over 10 years of experience come into play to guide someone’s relationship with food and their body back to a place of balance. Specific eating disorders that I address are anorexia nervosa, bulimia, BED, OSFED and ARFID. The age groups that I generally work with include teens and adults. Sometimes the best time to meet with a registered dietitian is in the teen years when eating patterns often start to become disordered. Meeting with a nutrition expert can put some of the confusing nutrition information into focus and then problems can be avoided down the road. I truly enjoy what I do and the people I work with can tell that I enjoy working with them. It can be a very positive experience to bring this basic human need into a place of balance.
When I’m not working with clients on their relationship with food I go outside. Since a young age being outside doing anything has made me happy. Camping with my husband is my favorite hobby and my pride and joy are my two college age boys. Watching them develop into young men is a source of constant joy to me. Also super important, my favorite food is PIZZA and I fell in love with my husband of 25 years when he showed up one morning with a glazed donut and a gas station cappuccino for me:)
