Matt Baumann, LPC

Oconomowoc

Hi, I’m glad you’re here! Reaching out for help can feel like a huge step, and I want you to know that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can be yourself without having to worry about being judged or having all the answers. My therapeutic approach is casual, empathetic, and collaborative. Therapy does not have to feel overly clinical, and I want our conversations to feel genuine and comfortable. I’d prefer my clients to feel comfortable being honest, whether you’re really struggling with something specific or just know that something in your life isn’t working the way you’d like it to.

I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2016 and have experience working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, anger management, life changes, LGBTQIA+ issues, addiction, men’s issues, and the everyday challenges that just feel harder than they should. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), though I see therapy as a partnership rather than something where I simply tell you what to do. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, develop practical tools and strategies, and make changes that actually fit into your life. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. You know yourself better than anyone. My job is to listen, help you make sense of what you’re going through, and work alongside you to figure out what comes next.

Outside of the office, I’m a pretty laid-back person who enjoys traveling as much as possible, spending time at home with my family, hosting game nights with friends, taking my high-energy dog for long walks, and relaxing outdoors whenever I get the chance. I’m always up for trying new foods and finding a good cup of coffee. I think there’s something to be said for slowing down, enjoying the little things, and making time for the people and experiences that bring you joy.
